Composer, performer, improvisor and scholar Laura Steenberge will present her current sonic explorations to the ESP Forum.

Laura Steenberge has lived in the Bay Area since 2011. As a performer, she sings and plays viola da gamba, contrabass, piano and guitar, in traditional and untraditional song styles. As a composer, she primarily writes vocal music and avidly researches connections between music and language, including studies of harmony and vocal acoustics, text painting in liturgical chant, mythological depictions of music, and the transmission of folk songs and lyrics.

Current creative projects: folk songs on the viola da gamba; metonymic musical vignettes of myths; paper making
